An introduction to the various study abroad programs at UCLA 

The UCLA International Education Office (IEO) offers several study abroad UCLA programs, formally known as UCLA Study Abroad programs, including the UCLA Travel Study, UCLA Global Internship Program, University of California Education Abroad Program (UCEAP) and the UCLA Exchange program. The different study abroad UCLA programs 

  • UCLA Travel Study: The UCLA Travel Study program offers customized programs with UCLA faculty-taught classes and onsite partners. Students study for three to five weeks in these programs. For more information and to search for programs within UCLA Travel Study, click the button below. 

  • UCLA Global Internship Program: Participants of the UCLA Global Internship Program intern with various organizations and groups abroad, while receiving academic credit in different fields of study and careers. Internships are approximately eight weeks in duration and are unpaid.   • University of California Education Abroad Program (UCEAP): UCEAP is partnered with 115 universities across the globe and offers various UC-approved programs within 42 countries. While remaining a UCLA student, UCEAP students can enroll in courses and earn credits in this way. For further information on UCEAP, click the button below.

  • UCLA Exchange: The IEO notes that the UCLA Exchange program offers true international experience. This program includes both learning and experiential opportunities, as well as living and studying entirely in a different country. The program is smaller, yet has agreements with different UCLA departments for varying programs. Most agreements focus on graduate student exchange, however, not all do.   • Non-UC programs: Non-UC programs are third-party or non-UC system programs that offer study abroad. Though UCLA does not oversee these programs, the IEO provides information on planned academic leave, registration and retrieval registration. For those interested, click the link below. 

In addition, the IEO offers further information for returnees of varying study abroad UCLA programs, including resources such as reentry and adjustment, academics and the transfer of credits, career planning and much more. For further information, click the link below. 

Apply, finances and deadlines via the drop-down menu

The IEO also provides drop-down resources for applying to the different programs and accessing financial information for different programs, including scholarship opportunities, financial aid and other benefits. To access either of these resources, locate the drop-down menu at the top of the website and find the “APPLY” or “FINANCES” with linked webpages in the middle of the menu.
