ASUCLA venues hold record number of graduation ceremonies

This commencement season ASUCLA is hosting 13 ceremonies over multiple Student Union locations, including the activation of Kerckhoff Hall patio for the first time in over a decade.

Los Angeles, Calif., June 17, 2022 – Congratulations to the Class of 2022 and all graduated Bruins! Associated Students UCLA (ASUCLA) commends all of the hard work, long hours and dedication each and every student put into their well-deserved academic degree.

After an understandable — yet nonetheless disheartening — two-year pause on in-person graduations due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the ASUCLA Student Union Event Services division successfully hosted 10 elegant UCLA graduation ceremonies in the Student Union central complex over the weekend, with three more planned through the month of June. Excitingly, few of these ceremonies facilitated the reactivation of Kerckhoff Hall patio for the first time in over a decade, hosting up to 1,200 graduates and guests at various celebrations.

Commentators at the events included Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi who commemorated the inaugural undergraduate commencement for the Luskin School of Public Affairs on June 10 and Dean Emerita Patricia A. Turner on June 12 among others.

“On behalf of your Association, I would like to extend a warm congratulations to all graduating Bruins, including all of the classes that partook in this year’s commencement ceremonies,” said ASUCLA Executive Director and CEO Pouria Abbassi. “It is truly an honor for ASUCLA to support such an exciting, memorable day in your lives. I am confident you will all go on to accomplish great things and I wish you all the best in your future endeavors!”
