ASUCLA Student Union team awarded three honors from Association of College Unions International

Recognized on Nov. 16, the ASUCLA Student Union received three awards for its advancements in student-centered engagement, development and professional excellence.

 Los Angeles, Calif., Dec. 6, 2024 – For its stellar work in advancing student success and professional leadership, the Associated Students UCLA (ASUCLA) Student Union received high recognition from the Association of College Unions International (ACUI).

 Honored with three distinct awards, the ASUCLA Student Union took home the following categories:

  • Matt Cameron Outstanding Student Award - Emily Gomez, ASUCLA Student Union administrative assistant

  • Debra L. Hammond Outstanding New Professional Staff Award – Johnathan Wisner, ASUCLA Student Government support manager

  • Staff-Driven Program of the Year – Art in the Union, led by Mary Romo, ASUCLA Student Union Programming manager

These distinctions were awarded to each member on Nov. 16 at the ACUI Regional I Conference in San Diego.

 “This award reaffirms our commitment to excellence in student engagement, involvement and professional development,” said Pamela Lewis, ASUCLA Student Union Services director. “Kudos to Jessica Alexander’s student government services and programs team, and join me in congratulating Emily, Johnathan and Mary for this well-deserved recognition.”
