UCLA X OHT collection honors US veterans for 12th consecutive year

OHT and ASUCLA are collaborating for the 12th year, launching a collection on Nov. 1 to support the recovery of United States veterans and wounded service members.

Los Angeles, Calif., Nov. 1, 2024 – In time for Veteran’s Day, Associated Students UCLA (ASUCLA) is once again collaborating with Operation Hat Trick (OHT) to commemorate the service of active and retired U.S. military members with a specially designed military-inspired collection, featuring apparel and accessories that mix classic military aesthetics with the iconic UCLA style. The UCLA X OHT collection will be available Nov. 1 at the UCLA Store.

The OHT mission is to raise awareness and support for the recovery of wounded service members and veterans through the sale of OHT branded merchandise. This marks the 12th consecutive year that UCLA Trademarks & Licensing, an Enterprise of ASUCLA, has collaborated with OHT and its efforts to aid U.S. service members.

“As a Bruin and U.S. Navy veteran, I couldn’t be prouder of ASUCLA’s longstanding support of the OHT mission,” said Andrew Cottone, director of UCLA Trademarks & Licensing. “UCLA Trademarks & Licensing is dedicated to the support of the UCLA Veterans Resource Center and Bruin veteran community."

OHT is dedicated to Nate Hardy and Mike Koch, two Navy SEALs who fought and died together in the Iraq War in 2008; in honor of their service and sacrifice, OHT donates a selected portion of their proceeds to organizations that align with their mission, such as the UCLA Veteran Resource Center and UCLA Health Operation Mend, to provide aid to those healing from the visible and invisible wounds of war.

“Thanks to the generous support of Operation Hat Trick, the UCLA Veteran Resource Center has been able to provide arts and wellness programs that support our military-connected students,” said Emily Dahlem, director of the Veteran Services and Veterans Resource Center. "These programs greatly enhance the well-being of student veterans and their families, helping them thrive on campus.”

The eight-piece UCLA X OHT line includes long-sleeves, tees, quarter-zip jackets and headwear accessories representing the official UCLA logos tied with elements of U.S service member uniforms.

Not only do sales of OHT merchandise contribute directly to grants that OHT has awarded to the UCLA Veterans Resource Center and UCLA Health Operation Mend, but ASUCLA has additionally teamed up with the UCLA Veteran Resource Center to highlight Bruin veterans in the new OHT gear.
