Student-winning design floats to top of 12th annual ASUCLA T-shirt Design Contest
The 12th annual ASUCLA T-shirt Design Contest goes to UCLA student Scott Park and his illustration of Bruin bears dancing amongst UCLA bubbles.
Los Angeles, Calif., Dec. 11, 2024 – After a total of 114 submissions to the 12th annual Associated Students UCLA (ASUCLA) T-shirt Contest, UCLA student Scott Park has been named the official 2025 winner, voted by the UCLA student body.
A fourth-year computer science student, Park illustrated bears that blew bubbles to the top of this year’s contest, presenting the liveliness of the Bruin community. The winning illustration was announced by Bruin Custom Print (BCP), a Student-Run Enterprise of ASUCLA, on Dec. 11.
"My goal with this design was to illustrate a piece of artwork that was fun and cute,” Park stated in his submission. “The four bears represent the lively spirit of UCLA Bruins.”
For his winnings, Park received a $1,000 gift card to the UCLA Store and his original design will be produced on a T-shirt, available at the UCLA Store beginning in early 2025. Further, a portion of the proceeds from the T-shirt sale will support both the Undergraduate Students Association and the Graduate Students Association.
“Congratulations to Scott Park for creating this bubbly, fun interpretation of four Bruin bears,” said Guy Adams, BCP manager. “An additional thank you to all UCLA participants who submitted their creative interpretations of UCLA pride.”
The ASUCLA T-shirt Design Contest opened to the UCLA student community on Nov. 1, with a design showcase of all entries on Nov. 13 for the larger Bruin community to enjoy. During this year’s contest, nearly 1,700 students voted on the top 20 contest designs, selecting Park as the 2025 winner.
Park’s design follows last year’s winning illustration of a Bruin surrounded by the clouds, from then second-year world arts and culture UCLA student Katie Fang.
