Women's History Month: celebrating women's programs and initiatives around UCLA
Happy March, Bruins, which means happy Women’s History Month! Not only does the month recognize women’s achievements and history, but March 8 also celebrates International Women’s Day. With many UCLA student organizations and UCLA resource centers dedicated to uplifting and supporting women, there are ways to be involved this Women’s History Month.
Consider joining programs or student organizations! ASUCLA reached out to a handful of the women-centered and supporting organizations on campus. The following information was provided by those who have responded; however, this is not an exhaustive list of all UCLA women's organizations.
The UCLA Center for the Study of Women (CSW)
“The UCLA Center for the Study of Women|Barbra Streisand Center is a globally recognized research hub dedicated to advancing social justice feminism through education and scholarship,” said a CSW team member. “As the first organized research unit of its kind in the University of California system, the center fosters research on gender, sexuality and women’s issues, with key focus areas including Gender and Water, Feminist Anti-Carceral Studies, Sexual Violence and Intersectionality and Trans Futures in Health and Scientific Knowledge. CSW|Streisand Center supports students and faculty through funding opportunities, scholarly collaborations and recruitment initiatives,” with programs such as the Thinking Gender Graduate Student Conference.
