The UCLA quarter system
UCLA operates on a quarter system, where there are three, 10-week quarters during the regular academic year; these three quarters represent fall, winter and spring. Along with the 10 weeks in fall, winter and spring, there is an additional week at the end of each quarter for finals. There is also a week zero at the beginning of every academic year, occurring only before the fall quarter.
The fourth quarter is dedicated to summer sessions (sessions A, B and C), which vary in length, between three to 10 weeks. To find the length of each summer session and the start and end dates for each summer session, click the link below.
Additional UCLA calendars
Along with the UCLA academic calendar, the UCLA Registrar’s Office also provides a term calendar, professional school calendars and summer sessions calendar. The term calendar outlines important dates every quarter and provides the schedule of events happening every week, such as enrollment dates, when classes can be dropped and more. There are professional school calendars for the School of Dentistry, School of Law and the David Geffen School of Medicine. To explore all UCLA calendars, click the link below.
