The Study UCLA
The Study UCLA, also referred to as The Study at Hedrick, is one of four quick-service and takeout restaurants on the Hill, where the residential living and dorms at UCLA are located. The Study is a modern, minimalist restaurant and study space. In the study space, there are couches, cubicles, long tables, discussion rooms with writable walls, chairs by the fireplace and booths for students and student guests to gather, study and eat in. Floor-to-ceiling windows run along one of the walls, providing a scenic view of pine trees that let in lots of natural light. Plus, with plenty of outlets, high-speed Wi-Fi and convenient access to food, it is a great space to concentrate on work.
One of the most distinctive features of The Study UCLA is the fishbowl — a glass and brick-walled room within the main area (a room within a room) that offers additional tables and benches for students to do work. The fishbowl is a very popular place to study for its quiet, focused environment and clean, serene design, ensuring minimal distractions. In addition, there is the blue room — a room lit by blue light with a black, starry ceiling, cushion seating and peaceful ambiance. Blue light has been proven to help with cognitive performance and alertness, making the blue room an ideal place to focus.
At The Study UCLA restaurant, the European-style menu features customizable pizzas, salads and sandwiches. There is also a cafe inside that serves an array of pastries and desserts, as well as coffees and teas. Other drinks available include kombucha on tap, pressed juices and chia drinks. Along the back wall, there is a market with pre-made, to-go options, including parfaits, fruit cups, sandwiches, vegetable trays, protein platters and more. Some other favorites include customizable waffles, crepes, fries and sausage sandwiches.
