Microwave sweet potato from A Couple Cooks

Instead of taking over half-an-hour to bake sweet potatoes in the oven, you can cook them in the microwave and they’ll be ready to eat in a matter of minutes.

Make sure to prepare your sweet potato by pricking it all over with a fork to let steam escape and prevent a mini explosion in your microwave. Another hack is to wrap the sweet potato in a wet paper towel to keep it from drying out in the cooking process. Finally, note that the cooking time varies based on the size of the sweet potato, so be sure to check the recipe website for the appropriate cooking time.

After your sweet potato is out of the microwave, you can eat it with a little pat of butter and salt or elevate it with toppings like smoked salmon, cream cheese, red onions and chives.

Microwave macaroni and cheese from I Am a Food Blog

With this easy recipe, you’ll have a delicious serving of mac and cheese and only one mug to wash after you’ve finished eating every last forkful.

In a very large microwaveable mug, combine ½ cup macaroni, ½ cup water, and a pinch of salt. Stir the macaroni before placing it on a microwave safe plate. Then, microwave the macaroni in five two-minute intervals, stirring in between to ensure the pasta cooks evenly. At the end, all the water should be absorbed and the macaroni should be tender.

Next, stir in ¼ cup milk and ½ cup shredded cheese of your choice and microwave for 30 seconds, or until the cheese is melted. Once the mug is out the microwave, enjoy your freshly cooked mac and cheese!

Before you make this recipe, check to sure your mug is microwaveable — no exploding mugs, please! You can also play around with the recipe by adding multiple types of cheese and some spices to change up the flavor.

Chocolate-covered strawberries from Spoon University

With only two ingredients, this recipe is easy and a crowd favorite. This recipe calls for half a bag of chocolate chips (or a 4 ounce chocolate bar chopped into small pieces) and 16 strawberries, but you can adjust according to how many chocolate-covered strawberries you want to end up with.

The trickiest part of this recipe is making sure not to burn the chocolate — the more sugar there is in the chocolate, the easier it burns. The recipe recommends warming the chocolate up in 30 second intervals and stirring in between. After three rounds of warming and stirring, the chocolate should be ready for dipping.

Next, dip the strawberries in the chocolate. Make sure to prepare a sheet of wax paper on a tray to place the dipped strawberries. Once all the strawberries are dipped, place them into the fridge to cool. After the chocolate has hardened, the strawberries are ready to eat!

You can alter the recipe by dipping the strawberries again for a thicker coat of chocolate or by melting a differen kind of chocolate and drizzling it on top for some pizzazz.
