Celebrate Pride with OutWrite Newsmagazine
Happy Pride Month, Bruins! This month, we’re focusing on uplifting LGBTQ+ voices in the UCLA community, which OutWrite Newsmagazine does all year round. OutWrite is UCLA’s official queer newsmagazine and prides itself on being the oldest queer college publication in the United States.

OutWrite is a growing multi-media platform covering topics about the LGBTQ+ community with an emphasis on inclusivity and intersectionality. The magazine’s team of 50 queer writers, artists and editors work hard to publish quarterly print editions, biweekly online articles, daily social media posts and a weekly podcast.
Outwrite is celebrating this Pride Month by releasing its final print edition of the academic year, titled “Color.” Each written and visual piece embodies a color from Gilbert Baker’s version of the pride flag, created in 1979 (the same year OutWrite was founded at UCLA!). The print copy will be available at the UCLA LGBTQ Campus Resource Center starting Week 9, so drop by and snag a copy! OutWrite is also hoping to table at local Pride events and celebrate its graduating students this month.
You can follow OutWrite on Instagram, Twitter, TikTok and Facebook (@outwritenewsmag) and check out its online articles at outwritenewsmag.org. Its weekly podcasts are posted on its YouTube channel and your favorite podcasting platform under the name "Speak Out."
If you want to get involved at OutWrite, applications for new interns open every fall and winter quarter. You can also submit writing or art as a guest through the OutWrite submission form.
