Student submissions now being sought for Art in the Union gallery

Artwork will be on display in-person this year at the Kerckhoff Hall Art Gallery until May 13; winners’ artwork will be hung in the Student Union along with a $600 cash prize.

Los Angeles, Calif., April 22, 2022 – Calling all artists! Whether it’s painting, sculpting, working with oils and textures or graphic illustration, Associated Students UCLA (ASUCLA) invites all UCLA students to enter their masterpieces in this year’s Art in the Union competition by May 1.

This year’s friendly contest is back in-person after switching to an online format for COVID-19 safety reasons; submissions will be hung for all to view in the Kerckhoff Hall Art Gallery beginning May 2. UCLA students, staff and faculty can admire the works of art until May 13 but will only have until Sunday, May 8 to vote on their favorite pieces.

“Students can submit all kinds of art like sculptures, traditional oil-on-canvas, digital canvas — anything a Bruin can create we can accept,” Yamily Barthel, ASUCLA Student Union operations manager, said.
