Kerckhoff Hall patio receives new furniture during remodeling efforts

Working in conjunction with Semel HCI, ASUCLA is updating the Kerckhoff Hall patio as a part of a larger project to create communal spaces that meet student needs.

Los Angeles, Calif., March 29, 2022 – New and ready to be utilized by students returning back to campus after spring break, the Kerckhoff Hall patio received new seating furniture as a part of its ongoing remodel. Refurbishing the space is intended to better serve UCLA students as a valuable area that fosters community gathering.

The patio makeover is a collaboration between UCLA’s Semel Healthy Campus Initiative Center (Semel HCI) — a vision supported by Jane and Terry Semel — and Associated Students UCLA (ASUCLA), with generous contributions from the Bruin community during the SPARK campaign over winter 2021.

“The Kerckhoff Hall patio project represents how the network of Semel HCI can be leveraged to support our Bruin community’s health and well-being,” Wendy Slusser, associate vice provost of Semel HCI, said. “We are so proud of the talented, student-led team who thoughtfully designed the space in response to student feedback.”
