Wescom Credit Union doesn’t just serve UCLA students through financial services like the 0% Wescom Technology Loan; it’s an important UCLA sponsor, supporting UCLA facilities, installations and activities. Learn more about Wescom through the link below.
In 2018, UCLA signed a long-term sponsorship with Wescom Credit Union to help fund on-campus organizations such as UCLA Campus Life and Recreation, UCLA Athletics, the UCLA Volunteer Center and the UCLA Alumni Association for events and programs that benefit UCLA students and alumni.
According to a UCLA Newsroom press release, Wescom supports UCLA, the Rose Bowl Stadium and IMG (the marketing, media and licensing agent for all of the UCLA units involved in the program) with $38 million in sponsorship fees over the course of a 10-year term. The sponsorship officially began in 2018. Here are some examples of Wescom’s contributions to UCLA in the first four years of the sponsorship:
Facilities
The sponsorship covers preservation and improvement costs for Pauley Pavilion, an indoor arena at UCLA. Pauley Pavilion is home to the UCLA men’s and women’s basketball teams, among other UCLA Athletic teams. In return for its contributions, Wescom Credit Union receives name recognition via signage at the facility reading: “Edwin W. Pauley Pavilion presented by Wescom.”
The sponsorship also funded improvements to the Ackerman Union patio, now called the Wescom Student Terrace. The improvements went on to improve the outdoor facility for the benefit of the campus community, including expanded seating, sun shades and rain protection.
La Memoria de la Tierra: UCLA
Wescom joined in UCLA’s centennial celebration by helping to commission artist, activist and professor Judy Baca for her 2022 mural, “La Memoria de la Tierra: UCLA”. In three 26-foot long panels, Baca weaves together UCLA’s past, present and future with the land it stands upon. Baca’s mural is now on display at the Wescom Student Terrace for all to experience.
ASUCLA coupons
Wescom partners with Associated Students UCLA (ASUCLA) to deliver student benefits. Students who have walked through Bruin Plaza early Fall Quarter 2022 might remember receiving a sheet of coupons in exchange for following the ASUCLA Instagram account. Wescom Credit Union was the proud sponsor behind the free coffee coupon and other great discounts on the fall coupon sheet, and it sponsors many other ASUCLA giveaways.
UCLA Student Union watch parties
Wescom also sponsors ASUCLA Student Union (a division of ASUCLA) events, including the free football watch parties for students. These sponsored events go beyond allowing Bruins to watch big games without a ticket; they provide students with an opportunity to engage in the UCLA community while also enjoying free snacks, prizes, giveaways and more.
