Perks of UCLA dorm life

UCLA dorm life has several perks, including proximity to campus, access to great amenities and the best college food in America as ranked by Business Insider. To learn more about living in a UCLA dorm, visit the UCLA Housing website through the button below.

UCLA students can choose to live in UCLA dorms, UCLA apartments, or off-campus, unaffiliated apartments they find on their own. Here are some reasons why students choose to live in UCLA dorms:

Community

Students living in the dorms can easily connect to each other and build a sense of community in the welcoming environment of the UCLA residential hill. Roommates can go explore the UCLA dining halls as a group, resident assistants create fun, bonding events for the students on their floors; and events such as The Hill’s Got Talent bring the on-campus resident community together.

Location

The UCLA dorms are a convenient location for students to live; it’s a quick and easy walk to get to class. UCLA dorm residents are about a ten minute walk from Bruin Plaza — the heart of the UCLA campus.

Proximity to campus also means proximity to UCLA Gateway Plaza — a public transportation hub where several bus lines run. From the UCLA Gateway Plaza, students can easily travel to places like Downtown Santa Monica, Sawtelle Boulevard and Westfield Century City to explore everything Los Angeles has to offer.

Amenities

The UCLA residential hill provides a long list of amenities; every UCLA dorm building comes with high-speed internet, free premium streaming service and a laundry room, as well as routine housekeeping, maintenance, and 24-hour front desk support. Residents also have access to a fitness center, a convenience store, a mail center, music practice rooms, outdoor recreation facilities and community gardens.

Dining

The UCLA dining halls are well-known for their high quality food. The residential hill has 10 dining halls with ever-changing menus, and several food trucks that stop by every day. Those with dietary restrictions still have access to plenty of food – every UCLA dining hall offers vegan and vegetarian meal choices, and they also have kosher, halal and gluten-free dining options.
