Spring into this year’s Earth Day

Celebrate the 54th anniversary of Earth Day at the many nature spots on the UCLA campus on April 22nd!

Earth Day, a recognized holiday since 1970, is a movement intended to spread awareness about the environmental and societal changes humans can make across the globe to help better the Earth. It also is a form of appreciation for what the Earth provides for Bruins every day. One of the ways Bruins can appreciate our Earth is by being in nature on campus!

Bruins can help spread the celebration and progress of Earth Day by recognizing and encouraging others to recognize the individual interactions with the environment. According to the UCLA Luskin Conference Center, the following are some notable gardens and ecological epicenters to check out when looking for a place to enjoy the Earth on campus.

  • Franklin D. Murphy Sculpture Garden

  • Mildred E. Mathias Botanical Gardens

  • Medicinal Herb Garden at the Center for Health Sciences

  • Medicinal Herb Garden at the Ronald Reagan Medical Center

  • Living Amphitheater at the Sunset Canyon Recreation Center

For in-depth instructions on how to access these botanical regions on campus, click the link below for the Luskin Conference Center’s guide.

However, it does not take a variety of flora to appreciate Earth and our campus. Opt for soaking up the sunshine on the grassy hill of Janss steps, relaxing under a tree at the sculpture garden or simply picking up individual trash to keep UCLA’s greenery looking pristine. Dickson Court north and south lawns and the Physics and Astronomy Lawn are other great options for appreciating April 22’s special day. For additional outdoor inspiration on campus, click here.

Happy Earth Day Bruins!
