Daily Bruin
Proudly delivering news to the UCLA community
The Daily Bruin is UCLA’s main student-run campus newspaper, offering daily coverage of news, events, trends and important topics on campus. Pick up a copy of UCLA’s daily newspaper at one of the 25 kiosks on the UCLA campus or visit the Daily Bruin’s website through the link below.
UCLA’s campus newspaper is renowned nationally, winning top honors in competitions held by the Associated Collegiate Press, the Society of Professional Journalists, the College Media Association, the California Newspaper Publishers Association and the California College Media Association. At the 2022 California College Media Association awards alone, the Daily Bruin took home 20 awards, including first place awards in the categories of: Best Magazine Photo, Best Newspaper Website, Best Multimedia Package, Best Editorial Cartoon, Best Infographic, Best Photo Series, Best Photo Illustration and Best Interactive Graphic.
The Daily Bruin’s office is located in Kerckhoff Hall, Room 118, where about 500 students across 17 editorial sections work to produce the newspaper each day. According to the newspaper’s website, about 9,000 copies of each daily print issue are distributed at the UCLA campus kiosks. The UCLA publication has kept its daily production schedule since the mid-1920s after it was founded in 1919, coinciding with the establishment of the University.
This UCLA news organization provides more than daily news; it also runs PRIME, a quarterly culture and lifestyle magazine; the Stack, a data journalism blog; and Bruinwalk.com, a website where UCLA students post reviews of UCLA professors, courses and apartments.
All of the paper’s editors, reporters, photographers, video journalists, designers and programmers are UCLA students. Since UCLA does not offer a journalism major, this UCLA publication serves as an important training ground for aspiring journalists. Alumni have gone on to work at top news organizations like the New York Times, National Public Radio, BBC and the Washington Post.
