UCLA to Suspend In-Person Classes Due to Coronavirus Concerns

Westwood, Calif. – Mar. 10, 2020 – As part of increased precautions regarding COVID-19, commonly known as coronavirus, UCLA will move classes and exams online for Winter Quarter finals, effective Wednesday, March 11.  The move, which will continue until April 10, is designed to ensure academic continuity, and will enable instructors and students alike to finish the quarter safely.

While classes will be held online, key ASUCLA services will still remain open for students throughout finals week and into Spring Quarter. Please refer to www.asucla.ucla.edu/hours for up-to-date information about operating hours.  The UCLA campus will remain open, including housing, hospitals, clinics and research laboratories.

Ackerman Union will remain open to students, with increased staffing to ensure more frequent cleaning and sanitation of high-touch areas, such as door handles and stair railings. ASUCLA Restaurants is continuing to follow all safe food-handling practices and procedures, as well as increasing the frequency of sanitizing all surfaces throughout each restaurant. At the UCLA Store, increased cleanliness measures have also been implemented, as well as an added presence of hand sanitizer throughout the store for patrons to use. Additionally, the UCLA Store is working diligently to replenish stocks of hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes and other items, for purchase. For general information regarding ASUCLA Restaurants and the UCLA Store, please visitwww.asucla.ucla.edu or download the ASUCLA app.

To prevent the spread of coronavirus, students, staff and faculty are encouraged to wash their hands frequently and for at least 20 seconds with soap and water or alcohol-based hand sanitizer. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth. Additionally, Cough into an elbow or a tissue, and disinfect frequently touched surfaces at home, work and school.

If you develop flu-like symptoms, stay home from work or school, and seek medical attention. Students should call the Ashe Center Infection Control Line at 310-206-6217 and faculty and staff should call their private health care providers.
