Welcome New Undergrads!

WELCOME FROM THE UNDERGRADUATE STUDENT BODY PRESIDENT

Dear Bruins,

I am beyond honored to welcome you all into the UCLA community, and congratulate you all on your accomplishments. Each of us were in your shoes not long ago, and it is with great sincerity that I encourage you to take in this moment and acknowledge how far you’ve come, despite the obstacles.

It is my hope that this community serves to enrich, inspire and empower you to grow as scholars, leaders, activists, change-makers, athletes, artists, thinkers, and most importantly, as people. As we begin the transition back to in person learning, I know the challenges we face ahead of us will be difficult. For some of you this will be your first and final year on campus but you are all starting a new chapter of your lives during an unprecedented time.

With that in mind, I encourage you all to step outside of your comfort zone and explore all the communities this campus has to offer. It is my immense honor and pleasure to serve you all this year as your Student Body President, alongside my 14 fellow Undergraduate Students Association Council (USAC) members. In this coming year, our student government will continue to support and advocate for a safe return to campus and I can say with confidence that our Council is well-equipped to navigate these uncharted waters.

We have an array of initiatives lined up to address issues of access, equity, retention, basic needs, affordability, accountability, transparency, and sustainability, among many other issue areas. We invite you all to get involved in any way possible and learn about our student government and the

integral role we play within the fabric of ASUCLA and the institution at large.

We are so excited for you all to join us on this journey. Our dedicated student leaders are here for you every step of the way and I cannot wait to see what we accomplish together. Go Bruins!

In solidarity,

Breeze Velazquez Undergraduate Students Association Council (USAC) President

 What is ASUCLA?

ASUCLA, the Associated Students UCLA, was created when UCLA first opened its doors back in 1919. Even in the very early years, ASUCLA meant student government, student publications, and student services such as a bookstore and cafeteria. Today, ASUCLA has evolved into a four-part organization.
