UCLA Career Center Hosts Engineering & Tech Fair in Ackerman Union

Westwood, Calif. – Feb. 4, 2020 – The Ackerman Grand Ballroom was buzzing with activity on Friday, Jan. 24, when the UCLA Career Center hosted an Engineering & Tech Fair, connecting students with recruiters looking to hire Bruins.

The job fair, which also took place in Collins Court, served as an opportunity for UCLA students with professional aspirations in the engineering and technology fields to meet with more than 60 employers, including Fortune 500 companies such as Amazon, Yahoo, Oracle, and Visa. More than a thousand undergraduate and graduate students gathered for the job fair, networking with industry professionals, sharing their resumes, and gaining valuable insights into making the transition from student life to the workforce.

Prior to the job fair, graduate students had the opportunity to participate in the STEM Master’s & PhD Networking Breakfast in the Bruin Reception Room, where 15 select employers specifically looking to hire candidates with advanced degrees met with more than 120 graduate student and postdocs.

“ASUCLA is proud to provide spaces for our students to gather not only for social events, but for career advancement opportunities as well,” said Roy Champawat, ASUCLA Student Union Director. “We aim to help our students thrive on campus and in their lives beyond UCLA, and serving as the venue for job fairs is just one example of how we support our students.”

The Ackerman Grand Ballroom is one of many ASUCLA venues on campus where career fairs and networking sessions take place, allowing students to gain visibility to employers at some of the top companies in Los Angeles and beyond, without having to leave Westwood. In addition to career-focused opportunities, ASUCLA venues are available for student groups to host their events, such as speaker series, movie screenings, ballroom dancing lessons, social events, and more.
